Diamond Custom Homes completes remodel of Grey Oaks estate

Diamond Custom Homes announced the completion of a whole home renovation on Chinaberry Way within the Grey Oaks community. Diamond Custom Homes Director of Architectural Services Karen Velasco-Carter represented the company's remodeling division for the project, designed and completed in collaboration with EDGE Director of Interior Design Adriene Ged.

"The original home had a heavy Tuscan design with a closed-in layout, original Turkish travertine marble flooring, carpeted bedrooms and extensive arches throughout both its interior and exterior," said Diamond Custom Homes President Michael Diamond. "The new design presents a clean-lined, sophisticated style featuring traditional characteristics of a Mediterranean home with clean, modern elements."

Built in 2003, the residence includes 3,925 square feet of air-conditioned living area and 5,562 total square feet in one living level with three bedrooms, three full baths, two half-baths, study, and spacious outdoor living area.

Ged incorporated a contrasting black and white color palette throughout, complimenting the warmer tones in the existing roof and driveway colors, and the interior wood flooring selection.

The team demolished the interior decorative columns and Venetian-style plaster arches, decorative ceilings in the foyer, replacing them with clean drywall-reversed soffit beams while retaining some elements of the Mediterranean look. Travertine marble flooring was removed and replaced with warm, Legno Bastone wide plank flooring. All bathrooms feature neutral, clean white marble tile throughout. Plumbing and lighting were updated from traditional polished brass fixtures to black and chrome fixtures.

The redesigned kitchen includes a full-height slab backsplash through to the bar area, offering a clean, consistent look throughout by utilizing a single material. The cabinetry is clean and contemporary. The appliance wall includes white and black cabinetry. The island, upper glass cabinets and kitchen range hood are natural walnut. The wine room features a walnut black and stainless-steel wine rack, varnish wood countertop and an open display for bottle storage. Original French doors located off the main area were replaced with large sliding glass doors opening to the outdoor kitchen.

The outdoor living area features a tongue-and-groove ceiling, full outdoor kitchen and fully redesigned pool. The outdoor living area is highlighted by a peninsula bar and a fire pit overlooking the 18th hole of the Palm Course.
